Louis Poulsen Keglen Table Lamp with pin - Black

Keglen was created by BIG Ideas in collaboration with Louis Poulsen in 2017. The goal was to create a simple yet unique lamp with a focus on the geometry and essence of light.

The collaboration between Louis Poulsen and BIG Ideas began with the development of a pendant for the Tirpitz Museum in Blåvand – a building designed by BIG for Vardemuseerne. The Tirpitz Museum opened in 2017, and the pendant's raw, galvanized surface reflects the museum's simultaneously fine and robust architecture, which merges with the West Jutland dune landscape.

The artistic and technical collaboration between Louis Poulsen and BIG Ideas continued and has now resulted in this further development of the Keglen family, whose simple geometry fits beautifully into any interior.

The goal with Keglen was to create a systematic design language that would allow for the development of a wide range of lighting typologies. In other words, Bjarke Ingels, Jakob Lange and the design team from BIG Ideas wanted to create a family of lamps with the same qualities and design details in different sizes, but each with its own unique personality.

"The geometric and metallic shades have a soft, organic glass insert that resembles a drop of water. In the table and floor versions, the glass insert meets the lamp stand and flows organically around it like a liquid whose surface tension is expressed," explain Jakob Lange and Bjarke Ingels.

Keglen Table is related to the Ø175 Keglen Pendant. The design is based on the same shade, where the stand is almost imperceptibly extended into the diffuser, which folds inward and creates a beautiful organic geometry. The table lamp can be mounted on both a base and a pin and is therefore particularly well-suited for work and study environments.

Keglen Table adds a graphic and simple aesthetic with its cone-shaped shade, creating a perfect atmosphere. The switch and dimmer are located on the base or pin. On the base, the cord comes out of the side, while it is led vertically through the pin. Keglen Table is available in black or white, with a matte, liquid painted surface that reflects light and the surroundings during the day when the lamp is switched off.

The table lamp's characteristic conical shade has a built-in curved diffuser. This provides a beautiful and glare-free downward light. The stand is extended almost imperceptibly into the diffuser, which folds inward and creates a beautiful organic geometry. A gentle, atmosphere-creating light is also emitted upward through a discreet opening in the top of the shade.
