In 1950, Poul M. Volther took over the position as head of the design studio for FDB Møbler after Børge Mogensen. Like his predecessor, Volther was very preoccupied with a simple design language and an almost functionalist approach to the craft in general.
This resulted, among other things, in the J46 - the iconic kitchen chair that easily finds its place in the home. A fine combination of complete design language and good seating comfort. In addition to the J46, the legendary Corona chair is among the most famous pieces of furniture from Volther's hand.
Materials and production
The seat is made of molded beech. The back, legs, and frame are made of solid beech. The wood used is FSC certified from European forests.
As wood is a natural material, differences in shade may occur, even on the individual piece of furniture. The chair has been adapted and adjusted to modern sizes and seating comfort.
