The Stingray rocking chair was designed by Thomas Pedersen for Fredericia Furniture. Thomas graduated as an architect from the Aarhus School of Architecture in 2002.
Stingray was a design he had spent a long time on during his education, but when he was due for his final exam, he ran into a problem; the School of Architecture was equipped with a well-equipped wood workshop, but nothing where steel and fiberglass could be used. So, together with another student, he created his project in the school's parking lot, and his stubbornness is still rewarded to this day.
Stingray is a modern piece of furniture that is dynamic in expression but built for relaxation, as the rocking chair offers many different seating options. The rocking chair's design is inspired by the stingray of the sea. The shell therefore resembles the shape of a large stingray, which contributes to a beautiful, organic form. The frame is made of steel and constructed without transverse lines, giving the chair a floating appearance.
