"Proximity and the local are the driving force" - Anne-Sophie, Co-owner of Enghave Plads 9

From the outside, you are met by the cozy string lights, café tables, and a hatch where you can buy a cold draught beer, a glass of natural wine, or a lovely warm cup of coffee for your walk. Here stands one of the 3 owners behind Enghave Plads 9; Anne-Sophie.

The close and local, which we love ourselves
“Corona came and we thought - now we’re doing it,” Anne-Sophie says passionately about how the place has transformed from being a small hatch in the wall on the square, to being a cozy café with room for more of the local regulars inside and out. There is only food and drink on the shelves and the menu that they love themselves - and almost everything is locally produced.

Even though it is difficult, Enghave Plads 9 tries to be as sustainable as possible. This is for example in the choice of furniture for the place. Here you will find fine secondhand finds as well as design classics from FDB Møbler in second sorting, which were bought from KEEPR. It is also in waste sorting, in thinking about which kegs are purchased, in choosing as local goods as possible, and in “grouping orders together when we order to minimize transport.” Because Anne-Sophie is part of a small local business, it means something who they collaborate with and thus support.
“We try to collaborate with someone whose business we want to support. For me, it is the closeness of it and supporting each other.”
